The plot centers on Riley’s experience at a hockey camp, where heightened emotions create turmoil in her mind. A “Puberty Alarm” triggers a chaotic upgrade to the emotion console, leading to clashes between the established and new emotions.

Anxiety’s attempts to take control result in Riley struggling with self-doubt and social pressures, especially as she strives to fit in with new peers while maintaining old friendships. Ultimately, the film explores the balance between embracing change and holding onto one’s identity during teenage years.

The movie retains the vibrant animation and humor of its predecessor while addressing more mature themes like self-acceptance and emotional growth. New voice talents include Maya Hawke as Anxiety and Ayo Edebiri as Envy, joining a star-studded cast led by Amy Poehler as Joy. Though the new emotions add fresh dynamics, some early reviews suggest they lack the resonance of iconic characters like Bing Bong from the original film. Nonetheless, “Inside Out 2” aims to offer a heartfelt depiction of growing up and the complex feelings that come with it.
